Also known as Block pools, Grid pools, or Box pools, you’re probably familiar with this format from its Super Bowl popularity. Now, you can create a Squares pool for any game or set of games for ANY sport season right on your Apple or Android device, all while using bitcoin to make bets!

Your members can pick their squares on the app, view and scan the grid with their wampum 1st wallet app – no need to pass around a sheet of paper!

Pool Administrators have a ton of flexibility in how they want to run their grid(s). Your options are wide open.

How Does Wampum Squares Work?

The name of this type of pool comes from the 100 squares that comprise the pool’s board.  The board is a 10×10 grid of boxes where each row and column are assigned a number from 0 to 9.  In Wampum Squares, each square of the grid can be claimed by a pool member by using their Wampum Wallet app to scan his or her public code into the box.  At the end of each time segment of the game, the last digit of both teams’ score is compared to the grid to determine a winner.  When a winner is determined, the administrator will send over the winnings into their Wampum Wallet app. 

Note: The Pool Administrator determines whether there are winners for each quarter, just the end of the game, or some other format.

Picking Squares

Wampum Squares pools are very simple and don’t require any sports knowledge to participate. However, that doesn’t mean that a member should just put his picks in any box. There is some strategy (albeit limited) to where you put your name on the grid.

The grid below is an example of a Wampum Squares grid. The grid shown represents a pool where a Pool Administrator has chosen to create random row and column numbers. Obviously, the grid shown is prior to the Administrator’s generation of those numbers and represents what pool members would see during the picking process.

When to Use

Use it with your friends and family. Use it at work. Understand the this is a turn-based game that can’t be played alone and understand the game requires a bitcoin wallet at this time.

Prerequisites

Your players will need away to get into the game. Here are their options:  
  1. A VENMO or CRYPTO currency wallet (i.e. Wampum Watcher App or other any other crypto currency wallet app [i.e. Blockchain.com]); or
  2. Use https://www.bitaddress.org/ for individual paper wallets then use Wampum Watcher to import the proceeds. Paper wallets are also available from our Left Right Center Crypto game app, which should be available soon from Apple.
